Are chickens the ancestors of dinosaurs?

Like other animals that walks on our earth nowadays, chickens are result of long evolution process of its ancestor. You may have heard about this, but indeed chickens are closely related to dinosaurs. Among other kind of birds, chickens, including turkeys, are the closest one.

Chickens, like all birds, are descendants of dinosaurs and are, in fact, their closest living relatives! So while they are not technically dinosaurs themselves, they are the next best thing and share ancestral paths and DNA with those might reptiles of ages past.

One question we ran across in our research was “Do chickens come from dinosaurs?”.

One source stated according to UC Berkeley, chickens are not reptiles but are, in fact, dinosaurs. Using the phylogenetic system of classification, they belong to the clade Dinosauria. Using the traditional Linnean classification system, chickens belong to the group called Galliformes, meaning landfowl.

Did chickens really evolved from dinosaurs?

It is now being accepted that dinosaurs evolved into birds over time, simultaneously getting smaller and less primitive in instinct. Embryonic similarities have been examined between unborn chickens and Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA, proving that chickens are in fact the modern equivalent to the T-Rex.

Are chickens the closest relative to dinosaurs?

You may have heard about this, but indeed chickens are closely related to dinosaurs. Among other kind of birds, chickens, including turkeys, are the closest one. Although nowadays you see chickens are only eating seeds, their ancestor is one of the most feared predator at its time.

That’s not all: chickens are close relations of dinosaurs, and genetic patterns in the brains of birds that learn new calls show remarkable similarities to humans. These findings stem from a project that sequenced genes from 48 bird species and then used several months of supercomputing time to analyze relationships.

Does chicken taste like dinosaur?

The taste in these three very closely-related animals are vastly different, so we can conclude that whatever dinosaur meat tasted like, “chicken” would most likely not have been your first thought., and technically yes. Since chickens, along with all other living, extinct, and future species of birds are, were, and will be dinosaurs.
