Penguins live in diverse environments, from Antarctica’s icy waters to the Atacama Desert’s dry shores in Chile and Peru. Penguins are one of the most popular and loved creatures, and several films and documentaries have been made about them, such as Happy Feet and March of the Penguins.
A frequent question we ran across in our research was “Where do penguins most commonly live?”.
Here is what my research found. however, most species live in the southern hemisphere. Some penguins live in a warm environment such as the Galapagos Island where the average temperature is seventy five degrees Fahrenheit. That is how the penguins which are kept in the zoos, survive the warm climate.
What kinds of penguins live in Antarctica?
While only the emperor and Adélie penguins live in Antarctica, many other species reside near the continent on subantarctic islands. The macaroni penguin is known for its distinct crest of orange plumes on top of its head. The subantarctic island of South Georgia is home to about three million of these penguin species.
Where do king penguins live?
King Penguins are found in Tierra del Fuego, Subarctic islands and South Georgia Island.
One article stated that there are also a few species of penguins that live in either extreme cold or surprisingly warm places. Many people think all penguins live in Antarctica, but only six penguin species are actually found on the coldest continent: emperor penguin, rockhopper penguin, chinstrap penguin, macaroni penguin, gentoo penguin, and Adélie penguin.
When we were reading we ran into the query “What is the warmest habitat for penguins?”.
This means that these penguins have the warmest habitat of all penguin species. Penguins can live in lots of different habitats, from the freezing continent of Antarctica to subantarctic islands, islands that are located directly north of Antarctica, to temperate islands, which are found between the tropics and the Arctic or Antarctic.

It is commonly known that penguins live in the icy parts on the world. But not all penguins live in the cold climatic conditions of Antarctica.
