You might be thinking “How much does it cost to buy half a cow?”
The cost to have the meat aged, cut, wrapped and frozen so it’s ready to take home is $1.40 per pound hanging weight. Hanging weight is usually 59% to 62% of the live weight. This is payable to the butcher. As an example, buying half of a 1,200-pound cow would cost: $2,100 to the rancher for the live animal.

Where can I buy Mitchell Bros beef?
Beef is available directly from us, the Ranchers, in either a 1/4 Cow, 1/2 Cow or Whole Cow order. Our grass finished beef is a seasonal product, with our butchering happening between August and October each year. After slaughter, our beef dry ages for 21 days before being cut and wrapped to your specifications.

We offer 1/4, 1/2 and whole beef buying options for those interested in buying in bulk directly from our farms and stocking up a chest freezer. These options mean you are purchasing a 1/4, 1/2 or whole beef.
The average price of a Quarter Beef averages $700 based on an average-sized beef. Your cost may vary based on the weight of your beef. We require a small deposit of $75 to reserve your Quarter Beef.
